Singapore
Singapore is an island city state situated at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It is a cosmopolitan society where people live harmoniously and interactions among different races are commonly seen. The immigrants of the past have given the place a mixture of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences all of which have fused together. The official languages used in Singapore are Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and English, in which English is the most common language used and is the language which unites the different ethnic groups. Education System: There are currently four universities in Singapore. The public universities, “National University of Singapore” and “ Nanyang Technological University” which provide a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including doctoral degrees. The third university “Singapore Management University (SMU) is a private university funded by the government which focuses on management and business courses. The fourth university, SIM University (UniSIM) is a new university opened in 2006.
